On Saturday 1st October, we were the chosen wedding caterers for Stuart and Nicola at Beaford House in Devon. The happy couple met over their shared passion for bell ringing. Brave bride, Nicola climbed the narrow church tower, at Sampford Courtenay, not far from Exeter, to ring the church bells following the marriage ceremony. The couple even featured in our local newspaper, the Okehampton Times, with their unique story, click here to read the article. Fortunately the sun shone over Sampford Courtenay for a photo opportunity before the guests made their way to Beaford.

On arrival at Beaford House, the guests were served bucks fizz garnished with strawberries and eldeflower presse for the drivers and children.

A selection of warm and cold canapes were also served including roast beef mini yorkshire puddings with horseradish cream; mini butchers sausages with honey & wholegrain mustard glaze…

…mini assorted poppadoms topped with chilli, garlic, lime and micro coriander…

…and filo basket filled with fresh prawn cocktail.

The tables were decorated with tall, elegant vases that changed colour upon the click of a remote, providing great entertainment for the younger children.

Guests were left to guess what the sequence of numbers on each table signified, for the fellow bell ringers among the guests – they were bell ringing sequences.

Stuart and Nicola were called into the dining room to a rapturous applause and sat down to enjoy the wedding breakfast with their guests. For the main course each table was served a deep dish of chicken, mushroom and cider casserole and a rich steak and ale pie, along with new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and green beans for guests to share among themselves. For the vegetarians, we served individual sweet potato, mozzarella, sun dried tomato and basil filo tarts.

Following this we served our famous dessert sharing platters which, as always, were received with a chorus of ‘wows’. Bitesize lemon tart, chocolate brownie squares, mini raspberry pavlovas and mini creme brulees adorned each platter, and were all served with a bowl of Devon clotted cream.

To finish guests were served fresh filter coffee, freshly brewed tea, homemade truffles and mints. Bubbly was poured for speeches and the parents of the couple were presented with flower arrangements in their favourite colours.

In the evening, we served the guests bread rolls filled with local roast pork, sage and onion stuffing and lashings of homemade apple sauce. The guests could also help themselves to mixed salad leaves, cucumber and tomato; homemade creamy coleslaw and homemade potato salad. We were also delighted to be reunited once again with the amazing BK discos who had lots of guests up and dancing the night away. For the guests that were peckish after dancing, we served a selection of Westcountry cheeses, grapes and wafer biscuits for the guests to nibble on.

Thank you Stuart and Nicola for letting us be a part of your special day and for sending us this lovely card, and many congratulations once again.
