One of the first questions we are often asked is how do you prepare a hot meal in the middle of, what is basically a field, even if we are covered by canvas!

We have had the pleasure this year of catering at a wide range of events whether they are in a pretty Devon Village Hall, a marquee with amazing views over Dartmoor or a Barn in the middle of a farm.

Basically, we can make a ‘kitchen’ just about anywhere.

We are in the fortunate position to have most of our own cutlery, crockery, glassware and tableware available to hire.

Regarding preparing your food, we have our purpose built kitchen in Okehampton in the heart of Devon allowing us fantastic access to most of Devon easily.

We would, for example, prepare anything that involves a lot of ingredients and is time consuming to prepare, such as your vegetables for example, the day before at our premises, but always cook them on site, (I’ll come to that in a minute). We would also make foods such as pate and other starters and prepare your desserts at our kitchen prior. However we would not assemble pavlova the day before, and top it with cream because that would obviously deteriorate the product. Our priority is to bring all our homemade food to you at its best.

So…the question still remains, how do you cook my Roast Beef, Potatoes and Vegetables in a field?

We bring everything with us:

We have Portable Gas Cooking Ranges, these are on wheels and are loaded on and off the van on ramps and put into place.

Our van becomes a fridge, en route, filled with the food we require, upon arrival we simply plug the van into a power supply enabling the fridge unit to keep your food safe for the duration of you event.

We have a portable hot cupboard to ensure your plates are hot: Hot Plates=Hot Food.

We have fryers, water urns, coffee machines, they all come with us…..

All we ask you for is a safe and clean water supply, electricity points, and lots of trestle tables to place everything on, if you imagine we need to lay out starter plates and/ or dessert plates for all your guests at once, therefore we need adequate table space to do this.

We arrive very early in the morning, whilst Jo is putting the finishing touches to any front of house areas Caroline will be starting to cook your chosen menu behind the scenes.

We have had comments in the past that ‘its been just like eating in a restaurant’ and that is is exactly as it should be!
