On Friday 2nd June, we had the privilege of catering for the wedding of Jenny and Robert in a hillside marquee on Jenny’s parents farm in Wembury, near Plymouth.

Following the ceremony at Wembury church, the guests made their way to the marquee where we welcomed them with arrival drinks including glasses of pimms and lemonade garnished with fresh fruit including Tamar Fresh strawberries, bottled beers, and orange juice for the children and drivers.

Guests were kept company by the two llamas that resided next to the marquee.

Guests were called in to take their seats at tables, named after the countries that Jenny and Robert have visited. For the main course, each guest received a plate of Westcountry beef sourced from our local butchers here in Okehampton, home cooked gammon ham with a honey glaze, fresh salmon fillets from Plymouth or provencal vegetable tart topped with cheddar for the vegetarians. We then served bowls of mixed green leaf salad with tomatoes, cucumber, spring onion and cress drizzled with homemade wholegrain mustard and honey dressing; Cornish new potatoes topped with herb butter; classic creamy coleslaw; Mediterranean roasted vegetable with penne pasta; cous cous with roasted peppers, red onion, sun dried tomatoes, feta and fresh herbs…

To follow we served individual desserts including individual mixed berry pavlova…

In the evening, guests enjoyed a finger buffet of freshly cut assorted sandwiches served on granary and white bread; Devonshire cocktail cheese & onion and meat & potato pasties; selection of homemade quiche; homemade chunky potato wedges with garlic mayonnaise; baby chocolate éclairs; and the wedding cake.
