On Saturday 30th June 2018 we were the chosen wedding caterers for Jay and Ross that married at Putford, near Holsworthy and held their reception at Jay’s family farm, just up the road. A barn was lined, something that jay had always wanted, a wedding at home.
It was a glorious day and the barn was an excellent choice as this proved to be a cool option for the guests, after they had enjoyed drinks in the beautiful gardens.
The barn looked amazing and was completed with coloured hanging lanterns, white branches with candles for the table centres and flower and pallet displays, one of which included photos of the couples relations on their wedding day.
For the wedding breakfast we served a three course meal which the couple had their hearts set on from the start of the planning. We served a warm goats cheese and red onion tart, which was Jay’s favourite, homemade butternut squash and sage soup or Thai salmon fishcakes which Caroline makes with local fish from Plymouth.
The main course was a local favourite which was roast beef with homemade Yorkshire puddings, or a chicken supreme served with a Somerset brie and smoked bacon sauce, again with all the meats being supplied to us locally from Okehampton and Credition. Finally as a lighter, vegetarian option we served a sweet potato, mozzarella, basil and sun dried tomato filo tart served with fresh pesto, these dishes were all accompanied by crispy roast potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables.
The dessert options were our famous homemade pavlova with summer berries, lemon and lime posset with shortbread biscuits…
…and finally sticky toffee pudding which is served with lashings of sticky toffee sauce and accompanied with clotted cream.
It was great to work with some of our favourite suppliers Emily Feur Photography, James from Motion Farm Films and Val Shadrick who produced some stunning flower from Kilkhampton. We also met Liz from Rectory Cottage Cakes, who made the stunning cake. Many of the photos here are taken by Emily.
After the formal part of the day the guests enjoyed some games outside, including target golf as Ross is a golf professional, while continuing to enjoy the wonderful weather.
