On Saturday 30th August we were the chosen wedding caterers for Anna and Andrew who married in the pretty village of Noss Mayo, near Plymouth, on the south Devon coast. The village is situated on the River Yealm estuary and is separated from its neighbouring village, Newton Ferrers, by a tidal creek.

Anna lovingly put this vintage-inspired wedding together and spent so many hours crafting details for all her guests to remember.

They married in the church on the hill, St Peters, and then walked down to the water’s edge to the quirky village hall for their reception. The hall was decorated with pom poms and bunting that had Anna and Andy’s names on and it looked amazing. Anna also put lace bunting outside of the hall, flowers on the table outside and candle bras in the windows.

The guests arrived at the hall to have an ice cream from a vintage tricycle “Living the Cream” and drinks also served from a bike with an old gramophone playing in the background.

The guests sat down on their tables which were named “cheese and pickle”, pie and mash”, “chips and gravy”, ” bacon and eggs” to name a few. Each guest received a homemade bottle of gin and a packet of wild flower seeds. Anna had decorated the tables with vintage vases filled with flowers and doyles with each guests name stamped on. We set the tables with vintage blue cups, saucers and tea plates along with vintage napkins which were all hired from “Devon Vintage China”.

The guests enjoyed homemade roasted root vegetable soup, followed by home cooked ham and cheese ploughmans with homemade breads. This was rounded off by a dessert buffet where the guests bought their own cakes and puddings. The naked wedding cake was the centre piece on the table which was surrounded by many craft details that Anna had made herself. Along with a vintage clock, boxes, cake stands and tiers this all added to the WOW factor of this dessert buffet.

The wedding reception went into the evening with a help yourself bar that again Anna put detailed thoughts into and a vintage disco by “Emmie Hepcat”. The whole disco booth was set up and themed with vintage cases, boxes, flowers and lights: it looked great and was cleverly put together.

This wedding had a real vintage feel and Anna did not miss a detail – it was a real treat for us to be a part of Anna and Andy’s day. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Pooley!
