Carrie and Luke had very clear ideas from when we first met and wanted to have homemade pies for the main course along with Cornish cider. With these core ideas the full menu soon evolved…
As with the majority of our weddings, we set up on the Friday so Carrie and Luke, along with their families, could have an input on the finer details, such as which napkin fold would suit their table centres better and where to set the arrival drinks table. We also had a final run through of the day so we were all in sync, especially with timings and other suppliers.
As The Oak Barn now has more then one barn, Carrie and Luke were able to hold their ceremony in the smaller barn while the other was set for the reception. Because the sun was shining the guests did not need to see this area until they were called for the wedding breakfast.
After the ceremony, as the guests enjoyed sloe gin and while a few photos were being taken, a helicopter flew low above the guests’ heads and, to their surprise, it landed. Well, maybe it wasn’t a surprise to all as Carrie is a helicopter engineer, so it was only right that she and her new husband had a flight on their special day. As an extra surprise for Carrie, the helicopter was re named CARRIE AIR. After a short flight the guests were called to eat and the new Mr and Mrs Crocker were announced.
To begin with we served a sharing antipasto platter which included prosciutto, salami and chorizo along with mixed marinated olives, sun blushed tomatoes, a selection of artisan breads and dipping oil with balsamic.
For the main course the much talked about homemade pies were served, a selection of chicken and leek, steak and ale or a vegetarian pie of butternut squash, sun dried tomato and basil. These were all accompanied by creamed potatoes and a selection of fresh seasonal vegetables. Here are some steak and ale before they went into the oven…
For desserts we served a classic creme brûlée with homemade shortbread biscuits or a pavlova with mixed summer berries…
After the speeches, the guests were again treated to the helicopter taking off, this time with a few family members on board….
To add to the country vibe Luke’s Granddad bought his vintage tractor along and even gave the odd ride.
In the evening the new Mr and Mrs cut their wedding cake…
and danced the night away to a live band…
Congratulations again Carrie and Luke and thank you for letting us be a part of your great day. We would also like to thank Emily and Amy from Emily Fleur Photography for letting us use some of Amy’s great photos.
