On Saturday 21st April, we had the pleasure of catering for the wedding of Kate and Jamie at the beautiful Milton Barn near Bude. The couple married at Black Torrington, leaving their guests on the ground, the couple took to the blue skies to travel to the reception. Jamie surprised Kate with a helicopter ride from the church – quite the spectacular entrance.
After returning to the ground safely, we greeted the couple and their guests with glasses of Prosecco garnished with strawberries, bottled beers and orange juice for the children and drivers.
As the guests mingled, we served a selection of cold and warm canapes including mini assorted poppadoms topped with coronation chicken and micro coriander…
…chicken liver pate and homemade Mediterranean chutney on crostini; goats cheese, thyme and red onion tartlets; mini butchers sausages, from our local butchers here in Okehampton, glazed with honey and wholegrain mustard…
….and homemade spiced vegetable samosas.
The couple had a beautiful pastel pink and blue colour theme with hessian to fit with the rustic barn setting. We thought these table numbers were a great idea!!
For the wedding breakfast, we served roast topside of Devon beef served with homemade yorkshire puddings and a rich gravy; Creedy Carver chicken breast from Crediton with a white wine, mushroom, tomato, tarragon and cream sauce; and sweet potato, mozzarella, sun dried tomato and basil filo tart alongside dishes of crispy roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and green beans for guests to help themselves.
To follow, our sharing platters ‘wowed’ guests once again, this time adorned with miniature strawberry pavlovas, dark and white chocolate brownie, lemon cheesecake with lemon confit and creme brulee pots – all homemade and freshly prepared here in Okehampton in our dedicated preparation kitchen.
In the evening, guests were entertained by Britain’s Got Talent singer, Josh Curnow, who had the dance floor full. Between sets, BK Discos did what they do best, providing a great playlist. For those needing to rest their feet or catch their breath, we served traditional Cornish pasties…
…and a Selection of Westcountry cheeses with crackers, grapes, celery and homemade chutney…
…alongside the couple’s wedding cake.
