On Saturday 14th May we were asked to cater for Nicola and James at their home near Holsworthy in Devon. The day did not disappoint with glorious weather and a barn that looked perfect for any event, that this couple worked tirelessly on to transform to an amazing wedding venue.
We were thrilled to be asked to cater for this day, as have catered for other family members over past years, so it was lovely to be there seeing them all and catching up.
The newlywed’s arrived in style in a vintage Bedford Van!
As the guests arrived we served a selection of arrival drinks, options included Pimm’s with a fruit garnish; Cider, Lager and Elderflower and what a perfect day for a Pimm’s.
There were lots of games and a bouncy castle for the children to enjoy and the big kids later on…
While the guests enjoyed the wide variety of arrival drinks in the glorious Devon sunshine we started to serve a selection of canapes. These included Mini Butchers Sausages with a Sticky Hoi Sin Glaze and Chicken Tikka Masala on Poppadoms with Mint Creme Fraiche and Micro Coriander.
Homemade Chicken Liver and Thyme Pate with Devon Chutney on Crostini with Amaranth.
Wild Mushroom, Camembert and Red Onion Tartlet.
The tables were set and finished with Eucalyptus and stunning antique roses.
Nicola and James had chosen to have the speeches before the Wedding Breakfast so as arrival drinks and canapes came to a close the guests were asked to take their seats inside.
Following the speeches Nicola and James had a two course Wedding Breakfast. The main course options included Roast Topside of Devon Beef served with Homemade Yorkshire Pudding and a Rich Gravy, Crispy Pork Belly served with Caramelised Apples and a Cider Sauce and…
…the vegetarian option we served Sweet Potato, Mozzarella, Sun Dried Tomato and Basil Filo Tart with Homemade Pesto. All three choices with accompanied by Crispy Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Broccoli and Green Beans; served in dishes for the guests to help themselves.
For Desserts the guests had three options, a Dark and White Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Sauce, a Mixed Berry Pavlova with Red Berry Coulis
Or Creme Brulee with Homemade Shortbread. To accompany these dishes, bowls of Clotted Cream were served for the guests to help themselves.
To finish the Wedding Breakfast we served Fresh Filter Coffee and Tea with Homemade Chocolate Truffles and Mints.
Many congratulations again Nicola and James and thank you for letting us share in your special day
