After Boris’s announcement on 22nd February 2021, saying that he hoped the country could re open on 21st June 2021 with all covid restrictions lifted, Lucy and Ed soon made the decision to move their planned wedding from Saturday 19th June to Monday 21st June. Day 1 of no restrictions, we all crossed our fingers and hoped!
After lots of planning and stress as no one knew if we could proceed as we approached the date, Boris finally made the announcement that weddings could be held from Monday 21st June with more then 30 guests. Yes, at this point we have to admit there were tears of joy as we could finally cater for larger weddings again.
We all had a busy week, organising, finalising details and preparing ready for our first large event in nearly 16 months! We also had to amend covid risk assessments and train our amazing team on our new way of working to be covid safe. With excitement and butterflies in our tummies we were ready for the off.
Lucy and Ed were great! Despite changes and uncertainties on what the new covid regulations would mean to their day, they battled on with their vision and WOW what a day. Their bravery for organising a wedding on day 1 paid off, the atmosphere was amazing as everyone was so happy to celebrate their day.
The couple married at Dolton, north Devon and had tipis at Lucy’s family farm. With restrictions in place and the great British weather not being 100% kind, the family set up an arrival area in one of their sheds. This area looked amazing and had plenty of seating for us to be able to serve drinks and canapes to seated guests. For drinks we served, Pimm’s, Aperol Spritz and bottled beers.
Along with drinks we served canapes, that includes homemade Parmesan Shortbread with Cream Cheese and Herbs…
Fish and Chips that went down a storm on the chilly day, Mushroom, Camembert and Red Onion Tart, Roast Beef Yorkshire Puddings with Horseradish Cream and Sweet Potato, Ginger and Spring Onion Samosas
After some photos, the couple, along with their guests made their way into the tipis to take their seats for the wedding breakfast, but to start a few thank yous from Lucy.
For the wedding breakfast we served, our own cooked, honey roast ham, local Devon roasted topside of beef and fresh salmon fillets with a dill and lemon mayonnaise. A selection of salads with artisan breads were also served.
As wedding favours, Lucy grew tomato plants for guests to take and remember their day.
After the main course and with a zoom link to absent friends and family from all over the world, Ed made his speech. Following we served a trio of creme brulee, chocolate and salted caramel brownie and strawberry pavlova.
In the evening, we served individual gourmet burgers to all the guests.
It was a great wedding day and one that we shall always remember catering at with fondness. And to see more of this wonderful wedding, click on the following link, where you can see the preview video by North Summit Films.
