On Saturday 15th June, we were the chosen wedding caterers for the marriage of Emma and Dan. The couple married at the beautiful Launcells Barton in the Mill Barn, despite a week of inclement weather, the sun was shining in Bude.

Following the ceremony, the Launcells team served welcome drinks, whilst we served a selection of our homemade canapes including… smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill blinis with micro dill…

…crispy chicken skewers with mustard mayonnaise dip, sun dried tomato arancini with tomato chilli dip and spiced vegetable samosas. After some time for mingling and photographs, Lara called the guests to take their seats.

Emma and Dan were announced into the barn with a rapturous applause, the perfect entrance ready for them to go straight into cutting the cake. The stunning wedding cake was made by Jo Shute of EXE-cellent Cakes, lemon and blackcurrant for the top two tiers and salted caramel for the base tier.

After the cake was cut, we served the eagerly awaiting guests the wedding breakfast as per the lovely little menu cards that Emma had thoughtfully placed on each table. Emma and Dan wanted to embrace early summer with a barbecue sharing menu consisting of butchers 100% beef burgers, barbecue marinated 1/2 chicken breasts…

…and fresh salmon with lemon and dill butter.

We also served accompanying salads which included mixed green leaf salad with homemade wholegrain and olive oil dressing; classic creamy coleslaw; fusilli, pine nut, pesto and parmigiano reggiano; and roasted vegetable and spelt salad on rocket with a balsamic drizzle, along with a selection of assorted condiments, artisan breads and Devon butter.

To follow, we served a trio of desserts, baby pink raspberry pavlovas, lemon cheesecake with lemon confit and sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce, along with bowls of Cornish clotted cream for guests to help themselves. Here’s the trio of desserts just waiting for their toffee sauce…

Steaming cups of freshly brewed English breakfast tea and fresh filter coffee were poured along with homemade chocolate truffles, chocolate mints and plates of the couple’s wedding cake. After the Launcells team served the bubbly, the speeches began with each table guessing how long the speeches were going to take.

Milton Barn Catering

In the evening, we cleared everything away and left the happy couple and their guests to party the night away to Archive band and a DJ.
