Whilst their was a slight chill in the April air, the sun shone for the happy couple as they arrived to the beautiful gardens surrounding the house. On arrival guests were greeted in the Red Room within the house for his and hers favourite drinks… gin and eldeflower tonic topped with pretty edible flowers, cider and san pellegrino or apple juice for the soft options.

Once the guests were all seated, Jo announced Kirsten and Harry in to a rapturous applause from their guests. We then began to serve the wedding breakfast, the first meal for the couple as husband and wife, we served roast topside of Devon beef sourced from our local butchers here in Okehampton with homemade Yorkshire puddings and a rich gravy…

…chicken breast sourced from Creedy Carver near Crediton served with a creamy Somerset brie and smoked bacon sauce and not forgetting the vegetarians or those seeking a lighter option – spinach and feta baklava served with roasted cucumber tzatziki. All were served with dishes of crispy roast potatoes, roasted seasonal vegetables with thyme, broccoli and braised red cabbage.

To follow, we served everyone a trio of desserts, including a classic creme brulee pot, light chocolate truffle torte and glazed lemon tart, all served with bowls of Devon clotted cream.

Shortly after, we followed with platters of local cheeses: Somerset brie, Devon Tickler cheddar, Devon Blue and Applewood Smoked  Cheese; along with baskets of assorted crackers, homemade chutney and Devon butter.

With steaming cups of freshly brewed English breakfast tea, fresh filter coffee, chocolate mints and homemade chocolate truffles  and a glass of bubbly, the guests sat back to be entertained by the speeches whilst grazing on the cheese selection.

Once the speeches were received, we cleared the tables ready for the arrival of the evening guests, leaving the happy couple and their guests to enjoy the rest of the evening and cut the cake made by Kirsten herself.
