What is this blog series all about? Catering for so many beautiful Devon and Cornish weddings each year means that we get to see lots of different ideas for styling all aspects of your wedding. So we thought we would put together a few mini blogs on various element of wedding styling with some different ideas and inspiration for you.
First up… table centres! The possibilities are endless; however, there are a few things to consider:
Budget – Creating aspects on all of your table centres yourselves will save money and can be just as effective and add a more personal touch. Maybe invest in florist flowers for your top table and bouquets and create your own table centres for the rest. Liaise with your florist to choose flowers that are readily available and in season for your wedding. This the perfect example of seasonal flowers by a brilliant florist…
Height – Unfortunately we are yet to meet a guest with x-ray vision. Opting for table centres that are either lower than eye level or are tall and slim means that guests can still talk across the table without moving it to the floor.
Space – What is your menu? If you are having a sharing style menu with various platters and dishes placed on the table, consider the space required. If you have a big table centre, it will be difficult for your caterer to get everything on the table and will leave your guests feeling a little crammed in.
Temperature – If it is the middle of summer and you are having a marquee wedding, chances are you are hoping the sun will make an appearance. Marquees can have a bit of a greenhouse effect meaning they can get quite warm so ask your florist to deliver them in the morning rather than the afternoon before. This will keep them looking at their best.
For some wedding table centres, have a look at the following pictures, some were made by florists and some were DIY
