On Saturday 13th July, we had the pleasure of catering for the marriage of April and Chris, who married at Morwenstowe before returning to Launcells Barton for their wedding reception.

The couple were greeted with drinks by the Launcells team on the terrace, where they could mingle and enjoy the gardens. As the photos were taken, we served a selection of our homemade canapes which went down a treat, including miniature assorted poppadoms topped with a chicken, ginger and lime mayo with micro coriander…

Following the photos, the guests were ushered up to the events barn where they entered into the barn which was elegantly decorated with white drapes and twinkling fairy lights cascading along the beams. Whilst each table was adorned with rustic log slices and little vases of flowers arranged by the family the day prior, along with a variety of vintage tea light holders, holding tea lights that offered a warm glow. Each table was a year of the couple’s time together, reaching back to 2007, all the way up to 2019, with a photograph of a special memory in that year.

As the guests were seated, we served a selection of artisan breads along with some nibbles and dips: Kalamata black and green olives, semi sec cherry tomatoes, tapenade, balsamic and saffron mayonnaise. After grace was said, the guests tucked into their nibbles as they were entertained by the speeches.

With the speeches complete and a few teary eyes, we served the main course: slow cooked blade of beef served in a rich red wine and mushroom sauce…

…chicken breast, sourced from Creedy Carver near Crediton, served with a leek, mushroom, bacon and white wine cream sauce and for the vegetarian option, spinach and feta baklava with roasted cucumber tzatziki along with dishes of buttered new potatoes and carrots, broccoli and green beans that guests could help themselves to.

To follow for dessert, we served a trio of desserts baby raspberry pavlova, white and dark chocolate brownie and creme brulee pots along with clotted cream. To finish, we poured cups of fresh filter coffee and English breakfast tea with homemade truffles and chocolate mints.

Midweek Wedding Catering

We then cleared the tables ready for the evening reception and packed everything away. Just before we left the happy couple and their guests to dance the night away and enjoy a game of skittles on the lawn; we placed a cheeseboard with a selection of Westcountry cheeses, including Somerset brie, Devon blue, Tickler mature cheddar and Quickes smoked, assorted wafers, celery, grapes and our own homemade chutneys.
