On Saturday 14th August, we had the pleasure of catering the wedding of Molly and Phil, on the outskirts of Hatherleigh in Devon, at Phil’s family home.
Hatherleigh is a small market town in West Devon, which is famous for their November Carnival and rolling of the tar barrels down thorough the street. It is a pretty little town and made the perfect setting for this wedding.
As a lot of the guests were visiting for the wedding, Molly and Phil set up ‘The Village’ on the grounds surrounding their marquee,
these gave all the guests places to camp, allowing them to enjoy a weekend of festivities.
Phil and Molly decorated a pallet with their itinerary so that all the guests knew what was happening throughout the day.
The weather was beautiful so the guests enjoyed welcome drinks of Pimm’s and Bubbly along with a selection of canapes in the beautiful gardens beside the marquee.
The homemade canapes included Mini assorted Poppadoms topped with Prawn, Mango, Cucumber and Micro Coriander, Crispy chicken Skewers with a Mustard Mayonnaise Dip,
Porcini Mushroom Arancini with a Saffron Mayonnaise Dip,
and Homemade Buttermilk Scones with Cream and Strawberry Preserve, Molly and Phil wanted a little nod to an afternoon tea.
The tables were beautifully decorated with log rounds and wooden place cards as well as fresh flower cuttings.
The Wedding Breakfast included a choice of Roast Topside of Devon Beef with a Homemade Yorkshire Pudding and a Rich Gravy,
Crispy Belly Pork with a Caramelised Apple Cider Sauce and Crispy Crackling that many guests commented on,
or Butternut Squash, Spinach and Ricotta Filo Tart with a Madeira Sauce, all served with Roast Potatoes, Braised Red Cabbage Carrots and Broccoli.
For Dessert, the guests had a choice of Baked Tia Maria Cheesecake with a Sour Cream and Chocolate Hazelnut Topping,
Dark and White Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Sauce or, Apple and Blackberry Crumble.
Molly and Phil had a beautiful cake decorated with Pink roses.
In the evening to keep the guests fuelled for the party we served a selection of homemade Pizzas – Spicy Chicken, Pepperoni and Margherita,
along side an amazing ‘Cheese Cake’ made by a friend of the family, from Curworthy Cheese
The food was all washed down with drinks that was served from the amazing ‘Pholly’ bar which was an old boat which belonged to Phil’s dad and he recreated it as a bar for the day. Where does the name come from? Can you guess?
There was also a photo booth set up in the marquee so guests could pose and take pictures with different props while taking a break from dancing.
Congratulations once again Molly and Phil, it was a pleasure being part of your special day! We must also say the pictures of the couple were taken by Hannah from Camera Hannah
