On Saturday 17th July 2021, we had the pleasure of providing the wedding catering for Roberta and Dan at the stunning Coombe Trenchard, near Tavistock in Devon.
Roberta and Dan actually married on their original date in July 2020 but due to the pandemic, there was just the eight of them on that day, so a celebration was to follow in July 2021, which we were thrilled to be a part of.
The guests all arrived to glasses of Prosecco while being serenaded by a string quartet, on one of the warmest days of the year. The sun shone down on the yew trees where Roberta and Dan chose to have their blessing. The setting just perfect looking over to Brentor Church on the hill in the distance.
After the ceremony, the guests moved to the terrace for welcome drinks, more Prosecco, a variety of beers and lot of water as it was such a HOT day along with a selection of homemade canapes. During the welcome drinks, a face painter set up a stall so that all the children (and some adults) could have their faces painted.
There were also garden games set up on the lawn to keep the guests entertained while they enjoyed the amazing sunshine.
Some guests wondered and enjoyed the fantastic gardens and views that this wedding venue has to offer.
The canapes were Foccacia Crostini with whipped Goats Cheese, and an Olive, Fig and Apple Chutney;
Tomato and Basil Bruschetta;
Mini Roast Beef Yorkshire Puddings with Horseradish Creme Fraiche;
and Tempura Prawns with a sweet chilli dip.
After soaking up the sun, the guests moved to the beautiful Hatch marquee set on the other terrace at Coombe Trenchard with a view of the surrounding grounds, Brentor Church and woodlands for a 3 course wedding breakfast.
The starter was a sharing Antipasto platter including Prosciutto, Salami, Chorizo, Burrata, Marinated Mixed Olives, Sun Blush Tomatoes, Dressed Salad Leaves and a selection of Artisan Breads.
For the main course, the guests were served a Rack of Devon Lamb served with a Redcurrant and Rosemary Sauce,
Sea Bass Fillet served with Sauce Vierge,
and Porcini and Fresh Wild Mushroom Filo Tart with Walnut Pesto, all served with Buttered New Potatoes, Roasted Seasonal Vegetables and a Green Medley of Vegetables.
For dessert, the guests had a sharing platter of Baby Raspberry Pavlova, White and Dark Chocolate Brownie, Classic Creme brulee and Lemon Cheesecake with Lemon Confit.
After the wedding breakfast, the band began to wow the guests with their covers of a variety of songs and the Peacock Bar opened in the Coach house to keep all of the guests glasses full throughout the evening.
For evening food we served Hot Dogs made with our famous Local Butchers Sausages from here in Okehampton, Homemade Tomato and Mozzarella Pizza and a Selection of West country Cheeses including Somerset Brie, Devon Blue and Tickler Mature Cheddar to ensure none of the guests were left hungry.
Congratulations once again Dan and Roberta on your Wedding, it was truly a pleasure working with you and celebrating your special day.
