On Saturday 29th June, we had the pleasure of catering for the marriage of Emma and Tom who married at St Swithun’s Church before walking the designated pathway with their guests to Launcells Barton near Bude. As the guests arrived in the sunshine, the Launcells Barton team served the drinks whilst we served a selection of homemade canapes as the guests mingled and took photographs in the beautiful gardens.

As guests walked through the doors they were welcomed with the aroma and sight of the lovely floral arrangements by Bleujen Florists. Each table was adorned with a collection of pretty little vases with summer flowers and tea lights created a soft, elegant atmosphere.

The couple wanted a traditional 3 course meal with individual plates served to each guest for all 3 courses, so this is exactly what we did. With a tasting allowing the couple to make their last few choices, their final menu began with starters of… ham hock terrine with homemade picalilli, granary toasts and salad…

…all served with jugs of double cream for guests to help themselves. To finish, we poured steaming cups of freshly brewed English breakfast tea or fresh filter coffee; meanwhile, the Launcells team poured everyone a glass of bubbly ready for the much anticipated speeches.

With the tables clear and the ceilidh band in full swing with lots of guests up dancing away, we prepared the evening food ready for their interval, offering guests a chance to refuel. We served traditional miniature steak and potato pasties and miniature cheese and onion pasties along with homemade chutneys and sauces. Guests could also help themselves to a selection of Westcountry cheeses including Tickler cheddar, Somerset brie, Devon blue and Quickes smoked with grapes, celery and assorted wafers. The couple made their own wedding cakes: a rich chocolate brownie, a lemon and eldeflower sponge and a fruit cake all decorated with flowers and berries.

We cut the cakes for them and placed plates on the remaining tables for guests to nibble on for something sweet.
