On Saturday 29th June we were the chosen wedding caterers for Laura and Dan that had a ceremony at Buckland House, in the woods, followed by a blessing in the church which was all on site. This was then followed by their reception in a marquee on the lawns and a party in the house to finish the day off. Buckland House is certainly a venue that has all the areas covered.
Laura and Dan are both vegetarian and in their brief to us, it was important to follow this through their whole menu. Laura was very clear that she would like three courses with the guests all eating the same dishes to save on wedding administration. We were more then happy to do this, and with some thoughts on a wedding breakfast menu from the new Mr and Mrs we had the day arranged.
When we arrived on the Friday with the sun shining, Laura was extremely organised and had most of this beautiful venue set up.
It was easy to see that this wedding was a celebration for all of their family and friends to enjoy along with all their children and even their dogs.
There were areas set up in all the grounds such as an outdoor photo booth, picnic areas, tea lights lining paths through the meadow to the woods, lampshade lighting, a camping area, to name a few.
Laura, and her Mum’s, ideas and attention to detail were simply amazing.
On the day itself guests were invited from 12 noon, where they could enjoy lunch and drinks while mingling prior to the ceremony. At 1.30 the guests made their way across the lawns and meadow to the wood for the ceremony, they then returned via the church for a blessing. Following this, we served drinks on the front lawn for guests to enjoy in the sunshine.
At 4.15pm, guests made their way to the stretch marquee by Devon Party Marquees, here we had lit the candles on the table centres, which looked amazing along with homemade tea light favours that Laura’s mum had made for each guest to take home.
For the wedding breakfast we served spinach and feta baklava with roasted cucumber tzatziki, along with artisan breads, Devon butter and balsamic with olive oil.
Main course was one of our most popular vegetarian dishes which is butternut squash, stilton and pecan nut filo strudel with a creamy Madeira sauce, along with roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and mange tout.
For the dessert, we served each guest with a trio of homemade delights which included a lemon posset, raspberry pavlova and chocolate brownie. This was all followed by tea, coffee, mints and homemade truffles.
This was a really lovely wedding day in the glorious sunshine at one of Devon’s best wedding houses/venues. We will always remember this wedding with great fondness as Laura’s mum gave us some homemade platters for serving canapes, which we truly love and resemble our Oaktree roots brilliantly!
Laura and Dan, once again we wish you many congratulations and wish you all the very best for your future and thank you for choosing us to cater on your special day.
