On a sunny Saturday in September, we were the chosen wedding caterers for the marriage of Aimee and Sam who married at Morwenstow Church before returning to a marquee on Aimee’s parents family farm. The marquee was erected by Abbas marquees and had a clear roof with white drapes softening the look but still allowing plenty of the September sun to shine through.

We arrived on site early to begin cooking everything fresh on site, as always, and therefore, were privileged to see Aimee depart for the church in a classic car.

As the guests and happy couple returned from the church, we greeted them with glasses of prosecco topped with Cornish strawberries and orange juice for the drivers. Guests mingled and photographs were taken by the brilliant Megan of Heather Photography; meanwhile a saxophonist kept everyone entertained. Our bubbly staff also meandered through the guests with platters of homemade cold and warm canapes including smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill blinis with micro dill…

…and tempura prawns with sweet chilli dip. A path was carved through the long grass down to a lake, via a pretty archway, to a lake where the bride and groom had some intimate photographs taken together.

After a group photograph on the lawn, guests were called to sit for the wedding breakfast via this clever little table plan.

Everyone was ‘wowed’ by the cascading greenery hanging from the ceiling and the stunning table centres, with flowers arranged by ‘Flowers by Val’.

In the evening, we were graced a by a stunning sunset which guests could enjoy sat at the tables that we moved outside. The twinkling tea lights looked magical floating from the arbours above each table centre.

The cake cutting marked the beginning of the evening before the happy couple went into their first dance which got the dance floor going for the rest of the night to the band, Resident Heroes.

For those seeking a quick refuel from all the dancing, we  served a hog roast and a ram roast using lamb supplied by Oaklea Farm, Aimee’s parent’s farm. Guests could come up to the table where our chefs carved the freshly roasted joints to the guests and placed it in soft white rolls and granary rolls along with sage & onion stuffing or rosemary & apricot stuffing and apple sauce or mint sauce to accompany.

We also served a platter of Westcountry cheeses including somerset brie, Devon blue, Tickler mature cheddar and Applewood smoked along with a selection of assorted wafers, celery, grapes and our own homemade chutneys. These made great beer munchies throughout the evening for those who wanted to soak up some of the alcohol.

Thank you Aimee and Sam for letting us share in your special day and many congratulations once again.
