On the 8th April we returned to Tavistock Town Hall for the 2022 Civic Ball. After the upset of the last two years with covid we only catered for 2020 Civic Ball last September, so it was good to be back in the normal time slot for this years event.

This year saw 15 tables of guests to look after for a three course meal, followed by some short speeches, a live band and disco to dance the night away.

For the starters we served Roasted Sweet Potato and Carrot Soup with Creme Fraiche and Chives.

Chicken Liver, Brandy and Thyme Pate with Caramelised Red Onion Chutney, Dressed Leaves and Harvest Granary Toasts.

Lightly Spiced Vegetable Samosa with Mint Raita and Dressed Salad.

For main courses the two meat options consisted of Slow Braised Beef Steak in a Port, Prune and Smoked Bacon Sauce with a Pastry Croute and a Chicken Breast wrapped in Smoked Bacon with a Leak, Mushroom and White Wine Sauce. The vegetarian option of the main course was Harissa Roasted Butternut Squash and Feta Pie with a Light Marsala Sauce. All three main courses were served with Buttered Baby Potatoes, Broccoli, Carrots and Green Beans.

The Final Course of the meal was Dessert, with delicious options of Chocolate Orange Mousse with Homemade Shortbread.

Or Individual Pavlova with Vanilla Cream, Poached Rhubarb and Rhubarb Syrup.

Clotted Cream was served alongside the desserts for the guests to help themselves and to finish the dinner we served Fresh Filter Coffee or Tea and Mints.

Another great evening that we enjoy being a part of. Covid did threaten to spoil this event once again but we made it and a fantastic night was had by all.
