On Saturday 27th April, we had the pleasure of catering for the wedding of Karen and Patrick. The couple married and held their reception at Roadford Lake overlooking the water. The rain held off and the wind created waves in the lake almost making it look like the sea.

Following the ceremony, we served a selection of homemade cold and warm canapes including miniature assorted poppadoms topped with coronation chicken and micro coriander; parmesan shortbread with cream cheese and fresh herbs, semi sec tomatoes and chives…

…goats cheese, thyme and red onion tartlets and cocktail sausages with a honey and mustard glaze.

Karen kept the table decorations simple, with little vases a bright, colourful flowers and diamante gems.

For menus where guests choose their food, we ask for guests choices to be displayed on their place cards in someway shape or form. Karen’s way was great fun and looked good too…

…and a butternut squash, stilton and pecan nut wellington with Madeira sauce alongside dishes of new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and green beans.

Midweek wedding catering

The children could either have a plain chicken breast with new potatoes and vegetables or butchers sausages with creamy mashed potato and baked beans.

For dessert, we followed with salted caramel and chocolate tart…

…and classic creme brulee with homemade shortbread all served with bowls of Devon clotted cream for guests to help themselves.

The couple kept the evening entertainment simple with some lights and big speakers to play their favourite songs from a phone. As the guests danced away, we served miniature steak and potato pasties and miniature cheese and onion pasties for guests to refuel on. We also served a selection of Westcountry cheeses: Devon Blue, Tickler Mature Cheddar, Somerset brie and Quickes smoked with an assortment of wafers, celery, grapes and homemade chutneys for guests to nibble on even once we had left.
