So here we are again, at the beginning of another National Lockdown! We probably all knew it was coming but that doesn’t make it any easier to navigate!
From our perspective this one feels a lot different from March, it is no secret how devastating this has been for the business sector we are in, as an event catering company, with weddings forming the main part of our business for 8 months of the year, with council, charitable, family and Christmas events filling the diary around those Summer months, our diary has been wiped out, along with our revenue.
The negative impacts have been multi faceted -emotional -not only on ourselves, although our official titles are “Directors”, which can sound grand we are really just experts in our respective fields within the business. Not being able to physically carry out and deliver our services to our clients has been so upsetting, first and foremost, above the financial implications, that’s why we do what we do. Liaising with our clients has been so sad and our hearts have been broken for them. We have always and will always try to continue to help all our lovely customers where ever we can.
Financially, we have hunkered down and cut costs wherever we can, we have launched our Weekend Takeaway for those of you who have missed our food, and are grateful for the support we have received.
So what does the future hold?
We are an established business, we have a full to busting diary for 2021 and 2022 is filling up fast! We are still here answering your queries. Do we know what’s going to happen or what the immediate future holds? No, we don’t but all we do know is at some point this horrid nightmare will become a thing of folklore and legend, we will be pouring your Pimm’s, serving you your canapes and announcing your speeches again one day!
Our Industry is lobbying government hard, On the 9th November, Parliament is scheduled to hold a debate on socially distanced capacities at weddings, resulting from a public petition on this subject, we can only hope they listen to our plight and give our sector the same profile and support some other sectors receive.
Anyway folks, stay strong, hang in there -as we are we’ve come this far…support your local business and hunker down with a boxset this weekend and order a takeaway from us that isn’t a burger!
Stay safe all xx
