On Saturday 30th November, we had the pleasure of catering for the wedding of Lucy and Tim at Launcells Barton near Bude. We have known Lucy for many years after catering for her sister’s wedding five years ago, so we were delighted when she phoned to say that she was engaged to be married.
The couple married at Ashwater Church before returning to Launcells Barton in a tractor.
The guests congregated in the Mill Barn where they could mingle whilst the Launcells team served drinks and we served a selection our homemade canapes. These included smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill blinis…
…miniature butchers sausages with a honey and mustard glaze…
…crispy chicken skewers with a mustard mayo dip…
…and mushroom and garlic parmesan pastry tartlets.
After the photographs were taken, guests were directed across the courtyard to the events barn, where a truly unique winter wonderland had been crafted by Lucy and her talented friends and family. As guests entered they could see where they were sitting…
Beautiful twigs adorned oldy-worldy candelabras, complete with the twinkle of fairy lights.
Each guest received a cow tag, personalised with their name…
As the oohs and aahs faded, we created more when we brought out the wedding breakfast. Roast topside of Cornish beef, farmed on the family farm, was carved on to platters alongside, creedy carver chicken breasts. A platter was placed on each table for guests to help themselves along with homemade Yorkshire puddings, apricot and thyme stuffing, crispy roast potatoes scattered with roasted parsnips and jugs of rich gravy. There were also plenty yummy vegetables to accompany… classic cauliflower cheese, braised red cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The vegetarians were not forgotten with Caroline’s butternut squash, pecan nut and stilton wellington with a Madeira sauce.
For dessert – another wow factor – our ever popular sharing platters. These were slate platters adorned with a selection of miniature desserts again for guests to help themselves to… this included lemon cheesecake with lemon confit, white and dark chocolate brownie, baby raspberry pavlova and classic creme brulee pots.
There was also a little twist instead of our usual clotted cream, we served clotted cream made by the groom using milk that his cows had produced.
In the evening, we once again served meat that Lucy and Tim had provided. Guests could choose between hog roast rolls with homemade stuffing and apple sauce or pulled pork with barbecue sauce, coleslaw and all the trimmings. Guests could also help themselves to cheese and biscuits and little tubs of ice cream. The Blue Lion band kept the dance floor bopping all evening.
The couple also cut their wedding cake…
Thank you Lucy and Tim for entrusting us to look after you on your special day; it was a pleasure looking after you.
It was great to work with James from Motion Farm Wedding Films and Emily Fleur Photography who took some of the images in this blog.
