On Wednesday 26th June, we had the pleasure of catering for Emily and Joe at one of our favourite venues Coombe Trenchard. The couple married in the morning room with the summer sunshine beaming through. Following the ceremony, the guests lined up outside ready to capture the moment Emily and Joe emerged as a married couple.
As some guests mingled on the terrace under the shade of the parasols, others played crochet on the lawn surrounded by the immaculately kept gardens. Meanwhile we served a selection of warm and cold homemade canapes including sun dried tomato crostini with crisped parma ham, cream cheese and sun dried tomato…
…chicken tikka masala on poppadum with mint creme fraiche and micro coriander…
…buckwheat blini with gravadlax, cream cheese and fresh dill; roast beef miniature Yorkshire puddings with horseradish; miniature butchers sausages with a honey and wholegrain mustard glaze; and porcini mushroom arancini with saffron mayonnaise dip.
Jo then called the guests to sit in the coach house where we served a traditional English afternoon tea. The tables were laid with Sarah’s vintage china and cutlery and adorned with pretty vintage vases of flowers cut fresh from the cutting garden.
We began the afternoon tea with the savoury elements: a selection of freshly cut assorted finger sandwiches on white and granary bread, egg mayonnaise and cress, topside of Devon beef with horseradish, tuna mayonnaise and cucumber, and cream cheese and cucumber; individual quiche lorraine and vegetarian quiche; and miniature cocktail steak pasties and miniature cheese and onion pasties.
To follow, we served vintage tiers with the sweet elements… little glazed fruit tartlets with creme patisserie…
…baby chocolate eclairs, homemade buttermilk scones with Devon clotted cream and strawberry jam and baby raspberry pavlova. Alongside the sweet offering, we poured steaming cups of English breakfast tea and fresh filter coffee.
Once everyone had had their fill, the couple and their guests headed up to the main house for the speeches, whilst we cleared the tables to create a dance floor.
In the evening we prepared a selection of thin crust homemade pizzas with Margherita, Hawaiian and spicy chicken toppings so there was something to suit everyone.
We also served the beautiful and delicious wedding cake made by Hannahs Cornish Cakes.
Thank you Emily and Joe for letting us share in your special day and many congratulations once again.
