On Friday 3rd September the sun shone brightly for this special wedding that was postponed from 2020. We were the chosen wedding caterers for Sophie and Tom, who married at Poughill near Bude in Cornwall.
The reception was held at Sophie’s family home, where the sports barn was converted to a dining area and a beautiful outdoor stretch tent was set up for the guests to enjoy their welcome drinks of Prosecco, Aperol Spritz, Bottled Beers and Canapes.
Sophie and Tom chose a fab bohemian look with wicker furniture, pampus grass and muted colour tones, which ran through all elements of their wedding day.
A frame was set up for photo opportunities for the guests, such a great idea!
The Homemade Canapes that we served along with drinks included Mini Assorted Poppadoms topped with Chicken and a Ginger and Lime mayo,
Buckwheat Blini with Gravadlax, Cream Cheese and Fresh Dill,
Mini Butchers Sausages with a Sticky Hoi Sin Glaze,
Honey Glazed Pork Belly Chunks with Sour Cream and Chive Dip, Cones of Fresh Tempura Cod, Hand Cut Chips and Lemon Tartar, which was to be one of the high lights as Tom’s grandparents owned the Bude fish and chip shop many years ago.
and finally Porcini Mushroom Arancini with Saffron Mayo Dip.
The Barn was beautifully decorated and looked amazing.
The tables had amazing centrepieces of flowers which added a pop of colour to the room, which Erica and her team from Bleujen Florists in Bude did a fantastic job of.
Each place was set up with gold cutlery and a charger plate with a blush pink linen napkin on, finished with pampus grass and greenery, this created a real elegance.
The guests enjoyed a Wedding Breakfast of Artisan Breads, Cornish Butter, Balsamic and Olive Oil, Moroccan Marinated Chicken Breast and Thigh, Butterflied Leg of Lamb with Pomegranate Salsa, Halloumi and Vegetable Skewers with Soy Glaze and Fresh Salmon with Lemon and Dill Mayonnaise. Here is our chef Dan barbecuing the leg of lambs out in the sunshine.
Roasted Baby Potatoes and Roasted Sweet Potato with Sea Salt and Black Pepper, a Green Salad of Mange Tout, Lettuce, Spring Onion Watercress and Dressing, a Greek Salad of Tomato, Cucumber, Olives and Feta with a Balsamic Glaze, Minted Pea, Bean and Orzo and Tabbouleh, were all served to accompany the meats.
For Dessert, the guests where all treated to a trio of Chocolate and Salted Caramel Brownie, Raspberries, Strawberries and Blueberries with Mini Meringues and Lemon Cheese Cake with Lemon Confit.
Unbeknown to the bride, groom and 99% of their guests we had some additional helpers when serving the food as the Brides parents had arranged singing waiters to surprise them all! They were amazing and got the guests up and dancing which really kicked the party off.
The Wedding Cake was beautiful, decorated with matching flowers to the centrepieces and made in Tom’s parents bakery in Bude.
This was a truly fantastic day, with the sun shining and seeing lots of Oaktree friends, it was great to work with Jon from Indigo Prospective, Motion Farm Wedding Films and the singing waiters again, that always bring some fun to the day. We even had one guest say “Jo, your staff are amazing, didn’t know they could do that!” Think she might have had a few too many bubbles ;0)
Congratulations again Sophie and Tom, thank you for letting us be a part of your great day!
