Wedding suppliers… when planning your dream wedding choosing your perfect wedding suppliers can be daunting. As wedding caterers, in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside, we get to work with some amazingly talented people. Many of them we are not lucky enough to call our friends and we love it when we get to work together.

Top Tips

Ask for recommendations

If you have a supplier that you are already familiar with and trust, ask them for their recommend suppliers. Here at Oaktree Occasions, we are currently in the process of adding lots of our favourite suppliers to our handy guide on our website. We have included click through links straight to their websites making it easy for you to contact them and find out more information. Head to our ‘Friends and Suppliers’ page.

Look at their reviews

Check out their reviews! Have you come across a photographer whose website looks amazing and the photos are just your style? Great… but check out their reviews. Are they reliable? How long can you expect to wait before receiving your precious memories? The same rule applies with any supplier. When it comes to caterers, the photos on their website can look mouth watering… but can they create the same standard of food when catering for the masses on your big day. Will there be enough food for everyone? Will it be hot? Reading reviews can really help to understand what they are like in action. Check out our Google and Facebook reviews to hear from our happy customers.

“Oaktree Occasions catered our wedding, including the canapes and drinks reception and our sit-down wedding breakfast. People are still telling us that it’s the best food they have ever had at a wedding!

Caroline, Jo and their team were perfect from start to finish! Their communication was fantastic, and the tasting was the best experience we had out of the three we tried by far. They very kindly made us a selection of canapes to choose from, our chosen main and a trio of desserts too. It was set up like we were eating in a restaurant and they left us to eat alone and then sat down with us afterwards to discuss the final menu. A lovely change from previous tastings with other companies where they sat and watched us eat!

The day itself was just amazing – the team were fantastic, the courses were brought out in good time, the food was incredible, and they went above and beyond with extra touches that were just lovely.

I would highly recommend Oaktree Occasions for any event if you want the wow factor at a very reasonable price. Thank you Jo, Caroline and team for being such a huge part of a perfect day.”

Do they have a blog?

If your recommend supplier has a blog, have a read through and see if their style suits you. They can also be a great way of sourcing inspiration for your big day. Here at Oaktree Occasions we aim to blog weekly.

Social Media

Are they active on social media? If so social media can be a great way of getting to know the personality of your suppliers and see more up to date work. Follow Oaktree Occasions on our social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. We are most active on Facebook and Instagram so for recent activity check us out there.

Communication

Think of your initial enquiry as a bit of a test. If they take a week to get back to you, are they going to be this slow to respond every time you have a question. Will they be contactable if you have a burning question the evening before your wedding? Admittedly, if you send your enquiry on a Saturday morning don’t expect a response immediately. Chances are they are focusing on someone else’s special day. But you can expect an automatic response to inform you that they are out of the office and will get back to you as soon as possible.

We hope this helps you on your quest to creating your dream wedding. If we can be of any further help, or if you would like to talk to us about your special occasion, please do contact us.
