On Saturday 24th August, we ventured to Weare Giffard, near Torrington, for to cater for a wedding anniversary party for Rachel and Nick. After catering for a family just up the road for a wedding, Rachel and Nick booked us to cater for their celebration in their garden. The couple missed celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary so instead decided to invite their family and friends to party the night away for their 21st.
As guests arrived they had Bake and Brew, a tea and coffee tricycle with sweet treats serving refreshments. When late afternoon came, we poured each guest a glass of bubbly to toast during the speeches. We served a couple of hot canapes which were extremely popular, including roast beef miniature Yorkshire puddings with horseradish cream…
…and freshly batter cod goujons with hand cut chips.
As the evening drew in, we served a selection of hot, freshly prepared, homemade dishes ready for the awaiting guests. These included classic beef lasagne; chicken breast pieces in a creamy leek, smoked bacon and tarragon sauce; coconut and coriander vegetable korma and beef stroganoff alongside a mixed green leaf salad scattered with cherry tomatoes, cucumber and homemade wholegrain and olive oil dressing, buttered new potatoes, fragrant basmati rice and artisan breads with Devon butter.
Once everyone had had their fill, and many returned for a second portion of their favourite or to have a taste of another dish, we served a selection of homemade desserts: vanilla cheesecake with berry confit, white and dark chocolate brownie and fresh fruit salad along with clotted cream.
After clearing everything away, we left the family to party the night away into the small hours to a live band.
