Well, thunder, lighting, a tipi on the Cornish Coast all played a big part of the wedding of Lucy and Lucy, but did the weather stop us and the fun? NO WAY!

On the 4th June 2022, we set off to Morwenstow in Cornwall. It was great to return to this family’s home to cater for Lucy after we catered for Aimee, Lucy’s sister some three years ago.

The Cornish Tipi looked amazing with roses and pampus grass in all the decorations, all created by Flowers by Val. And welsh cake favours especially for Lucy OB.

At 10.30 am the decision was taken that the couples blessing would have to be moved from outside to inside the Tipi. The rain was not giving up so everyone dived in to ensure a blessing area could be created and look stunning for this special day. After some tables and chairs were moved and an aisle installed on the dancefloor, this celebration was ready to take place.

An exciting change for us was to have the brides and their bridal party start their last walk to married life in our catering tent! Lucy OB starting the walk off with her dad, following her bridal party.

As the Ceremony came to a close and the guests moved outside for photographs in the sunshine, we started to serve Prosecco along with homemade selection of canapes.  These included Sun Dried Crostini with Crisped Parma Ham, Cream Cheese and Sun Dried Tomato and Chicken Yakatori Skewers with Ginger and Soy Sauce.

Buckwheat Blini with Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese and Fresh Dill; or Wild Mushroom, Camembert and Red Onion Tartlet.

Cones of Fresh Tempura Cod and Hand Cut Chips with Lemon Tartar which always go down a storm! Finally a sweet canape option of Miniature Raspberry Pavlova for the guests with a sweet tooth.

At 3.30pm the guests were called to take their seats for the start of the Wedding Breakfast.

Lucy and Lucy had decided on a Two-Course Wedding Breakfast. This started with Main Course which had three choices; Crispy Pork Belly Served with a Caramelised Apple Cider Sauce.

Chicken Breast Stuffed with Tickler Cheddar and Mozzarella wrapped in Prosciutto Served with Roasted Vine Tomatoes and Courgettes and jugs of Tomato Cream Sauce. Or Sweet Potato, Mozzarella, Sun Dried Tomato and Basil Filo Tart with Homemade Pesto. All three options were accompanied by separate dishes of Baby New Potatoes, Carrots, Broccoli and Green Beans for the guests to help themselves too.

Main Course was followed by Desserts; similarly with three choices! Sticky Toffee Pudding served with ‘Lashings’ of Toffee Sauce.

Lemon Panna Cotta with Berry Compote and Homemade Shortbread.

Or a Baked Vanilla and Raspberry Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis. All three Desserts where served with Bowls of Clotted Cream for the guests to help themselves too.

To Finish the Wedding Breakfast we served Fresh Filter Coffee and Tea with Homemade Truffles and Mints.

Evening Food! We served a Hog Roast and Ram Roast. Both were served in either a Granary or White Floured Bap; alongside Apple Sauce, Mint Sauce and a Herb Stuffing. To accompany the two Roasts we served a variety of Cheeses, Crackers, Celery, Grapes and our own Homemade Chutney. The guests were also able to help themselves to Wedding Cake that was served to the tables and looked amazing.

Many Congratulations again Lucy and Lucy! It was lovely for us to return to cater for you both and see lots of old Oaktree friends. Wishing you all the very best for your future together.
