One of the highlights of this summer’s events was being asked to cater for Gemma and Daniel on their Wedding Day at Daniel’s parents’ farm overlooking the rolling hills of Devon’s jewel in the crown, beautiful Dartmoor on the outskirts of Tavistock.
Their love for each other was evident from our first meeting with them, and, following our visit to the farm, seeing their attention to detail, with all bases covered, we knew they would have a fabulous Devon wedding to remember.
The day arrived with beautiful sunshine and with the marquee, supplied by Hatch, looking amazing and facing Dartmoor and its spectacular views, everything was in place, including the beautiful wedding cake supplied by Ness Davey with handmade flowers and a shimmering lustre finish.
The bride and groom arrived by horsepower from the church service at Gulworthy to arrival drinks of Pimms or bottled beers for the boys, with a lovely selection of homemade canapés to choose from which included, chilli, garlic and lime chicken on poppadoms, smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis, tomato, feta and sundried tomato bruschettas and baby bacon and gruyere tarts – they were very, well received as pre-dinner appetisers.
Before dinner the professional photographer persuaded Gemma to go into the front of the telescopic tractor bucket for the all important aerial shot to throw her bouquet… a real photo to remember!
As Jo called the guests to take their seats, the new Mr and Mrs Edwards were welcomed with rapturous applause. The guests enjoyed our renowned Devon roast topside of beef with our homemade Yorkshire pudding, Crediton chicken with our very popular smoked bacon and Somerset brie sauce, and sweet potato, mozzarella, sun dried tomato and basil tart for the vegetarians, all cooked fresh on site.
Dessert followed with a selection of our handmade individual pavlova with local berries from the Tamar valley…
…luxurious chocolate truffle torte…
…and lemon posset with heart shaped shortbread biscuits.
Finishing with homemade chocolate truffles and fresh filter coffee our work was done and we left the guests to enjoy the summer evening, overlooking our beautiful Devonshire countryside.
A great day and one that we will remember for a long time to come. Many congratulations again Gem and Daniel.
