On Saturday 26th November we catered at the beautiful Oak Barn, just outside of Hittisleigh, near Exeter for the wedding of Calum and Katherine. The couple wed in Exeter riding in a classic Rolls Royce to Hittisleigh for arrival drinks and canapes in the Acorn Barn. Here is a photo of our very own Jo, serving canapes, taken by the fantastic Lee Maxwell Photography

We served a selection of cold and warm canapes to please all tastes including mini ‘toad in the hole’ with sweet caramelised red onions; tempura prawns with a sweet chilli dip; spiced vegetable samosas; mini assorted poppadoms topped with coronation chicken and micro coriander…

…smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill blinis with micro dill; and goats cheese, thyme and red onion tartlets.

After photographs in the winter sun on the lawn of the Oak Barn’s beautifully kept garden, the guests were called to take their seats for the wedding breakfast.

Calum and Katherine did an amazing job decorating the Oak Barn with a canopy of twinkling fairy lights that created a lovely warming atmosphere.

The table decorations were simple yet elegant, with tea lights and jars of gypsophila on a log slice, placed upon a gold table runner. All of which looked fantastic alongside the royal blue napkins.

For the main course, we served to the table large dishes of rich beef bourguignon and chicken casserole along with artisan breads and Devon butter, mashed potato, braised red cabbage and seasonal vegetables for guests to share among themselves. Vegetarians were also catered for with individual dishes of vegetable cassoulet.

Our famous sharing platters, once again, made an appearance with classic creme brulee pots, mini raspberry pavlovas, chocolate and salted caramel torte and lemon & ginger cheesecake with lemon confit bites. The guests tucked into the desserts, served with bowls of real Devon clotted cream.

To finish we served fresh filter coffee, freshly brewed tea, homemade chocolate truffles and mints followed by bubbly for speeches. We then left the happy couple and their guests to dance the night away.

Thank you Calum and Katherine again for letting us be a part of your beautiful winter wedding, and many congratulations to you both.
