On Saturday 4th November we were asked to cater for the wedding of Rachel and Alan that married at Wembury Church, near Plymouth and returned to Rachel’s family business for their reception. This was set with an extra marquee area supplied by the fab Hatch Marquees, that have great attention to detail and really made this extra space work well for the couple and their guests.
It was a pleasure to be asked to cater for this family again, as we had already catered for Rachel’s cousin, Jenny earlier in the year. We love meeting up with Oaktree friends again!
Rachel and Alan chose to have an Afternoon Tea for their 140 wedding guests that came to celebrate their special day with them. As the guests arrived from the church we served prosecco and orange juice along with tea and coffee for any guests that wanted to warm up.
The guests sat down and enjoyed our homemade afternoon tea which included a selection of freshly cut finger sandwiches, homemade warm quiches with various fillings so that all the guests could enjoy, even if they had a dietary requirement. Finally for the savoury items Caroline made her famous sausage rolls with sausages from our local butcher here in Okehampton, Devon, these went down a real treat with all the guests.
For the dessert part of the day we served beautiful vintage tiers full of dessert goodness!! These included fresh fruit tartlets, chocolate eclairs, lemon drizzle cake and the Afternoon Tea favourite “scones with clotted cream and jam”.
In the evening Alan created the most amazing cheesecake we have ever seen, for their guests to enjoy..
Rachel and Alan managed to find all her vintage crockery and service ware for the day, which included vintage tiers, sandwich platters, oval cake plates along with tea cups, saucers, tea plates, tea pots, coffee pots, sugar bowls, milk jugs and even sugar tongs. They looked amazing and really created a WOW factor to the set up.
After the speeches had been said and all the tables had been packed away we left the newly weds to dance the night away with their friends and family. A great day and wonderful to catch up with some Oaktree friends. Thank you Rachel and Alan for letting us share in your day and many congratulations once again.
