On Saturday 11th August, we had the pleasure of catering for the wedding of Annie and Aaron. The couple married at Bradworthy before returning to Annie’s parents farm nearby for the wedding reception in a marquee. Annie organised a team of helpers to decorate the marquee the day prior with everybody given a dedicated job.
Val from Flowers by Val created some stunning flower garlands which adorned top table. Guest tables were topped with candles and greenery, whilst the table names took everyone on a global tour of the places Annie and Aaron had visited together (we had great fun trying to pronounce some of the more exotic locations!).
Unfortunately, the summer of sunshine was nowhere to be seen and we were instead graced with rain. However, this couple did not let the rain dampen their spirits and the marquee had plenty of room to keep everyone warm and dry. As the guests shook the rain from their umbrellas, we greeted them with mojitos served in mason jars and garnished with plenty of mint and ice, glasses of prosecco, bottled beers and orange juice.
As the guests mingled we served a selection of cold and warm canapes including smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill blinis with micro dill…
…goats cheese, thyme and red onion tartlets…
…miniature butchers sausages with a honey & wholegrain mustard glaze…
…and crispy chicken skewers with mustard mayonnaise dip, with local chicken sourced from Creedy Carver in Crediton.
Double A and the Bay an upbeat duo from Torbay entertained guests and had huge fans in the little ones amongst the group.
Choosing to get the speeches over with, we filled guests’ glasses with Prosecco as they sat down ready for the entertaining speeches.
For the wedding breakfast, we began with roast topside of Devon beef served with homemade Yorkshire pudding and a rich gravy…
…chicken breast served with a creamy Somerset brie and smoked bacon sauce…
…and sweet potato, mozzarella, sun dried tomato and basil filo tart and homemade pesto, all served with dishes of crispy roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and mange tout.
For desserts we returned to traditional individual desserts – pavlova topped with fresh cream and mixed summer berries…
…classic creme brulee with homemade shortbread…
…and warm dark and white chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce.
To finish, we poured steaming cups of fresh filter coffee and freshly brewed English breakfast tea along with homemade chocolate truffles and mints.
As the night sky darkened, the singing duo, Double A and the Bay, began once again, instantly filling the dance floor and sparking a great atmosphere. The couple cut their simple yet elegant wedding cake…
As the drinks flowed and the dance moves got more and more unique, we served much needed gourmet butchers beef burger in a soft brioche bun. Guests could help themselves to a variety of salad items and condiments to pimp their burger to their tastes.
Thank you Annie and Aaron for letting us share in your amazing day, and many congratulations once again.
